Privacy policy
The short version: we store a first name per student and nothing else that identifies a child; each school’s data sits in its own database; nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or used to train anyone’s models; and a school can export or delete everything on request.
Who we are
VEN Method is operated by DeepConexion LLC, a Texas company, with development in Aalborg, Denmark. For schools we act as a service provider (a “school official” under FERPA and a processor under the GDPR); the school remains in control of its students’ data. Contact: jesper@deepconexion.com.
What we collect
Teachers and school staff: name, work email, password hash, role, school, and the sessions you plan and run. Students: a first name or nickname chosen by the school, class membership, which pairs shared in which round, ritual timings, the teacher’s private ratings and notes, and check-out answers on a 1–5 scale. Nothing else: no email, phone, address, birth date, photo, audio or video. Spoken answers are never recorded. This website: no cookies, no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels. Cloudflare, which serves the site, keeps ordinary server logs for security.
Why we use it
To run sessions, show the teacher what she needs, produce class insights for the school, and keep the service secure. Nothing is used for advertising, sold, or shared with data brokers. Student data is never used to train machine-learning models.
Where AI is involved
Questions are drafted before class by a language model (Anthropic’s Claude) from the grade band, the focus and the topic. The request contains no student names or identifying data. Where a school enables voice, the question text is sent to a speech service to be read aloud. Providers process this data under their commercial terms, which exclude training on it.
Where it lives
On Cloudflare’s infrastructure, in a separate database per school, with nightly backups. Traffic is encrypted in transit; data is encrypted at rest. Access is limited to the school’s own teachers and, for support and operations, the founder.
Who can see what
The classroom screen shows only questions and first names. Teacher ratings, notes and check-out answers are private to the teacher and the school and are never shown to students or other families. Session history shown to a family contains only their own child’s pairings and questions.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept while the school uses the service. A school can export everything (CSV or full archive) at any time and can ask for a class, a student or the whole school to be deleted; deletion completes within 30 days, backups within 60. Classes that are inactive for 18 months are deleted after notice.
Children
Students never create accounts and never give us contact details; the school provides the first names. We rely on the school’s consent under FERPA’s school-official exception and, where COPPA applies, on the school’s consent on behalf of parents. Parents can ask the school to see, correct or delete their child’s data.
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion, export, and complaint to your supervisory authority (in the EU) or your state attorney general (in the U.S.). Write to jesper@deepconexion.com; we answer within a week.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we tell schools by email before it takes effect. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
