VEN Method
A teacher-led ritual for the whole class, one round per pair (about three minutes each, for as long as the teacher chooses): a secret colour, three seconds of eye contact, one question both answer while everyone listens. The method itself is published free under CC BY-SA; the software is $1 per student per month.

Can you use both?
Yes. They do different jobs: ClassDojo carries the conversation with home; VEN Method carries the conversation between the children in the room. Many classes will run both without overlap.
Which one?
If your problem is keeping families in the loop, ClassDojo is built for that. If your problem is that thirty children sit near each other and do not know each other, that is what VEN Method is for.
